The LATCH Fairground Ball, 12th September 2008

He looks nothing like Shergar!

The 2008 LATCH fairgound Ball, organised by Peacheys of Newport, is set to be a glitzy affair indeed and is to be held at The Macdonald Holland House Hotel in Cardiff on Friday 12th september 2008.

The evening, which is a Black Tie event, will include all the fun of the fair, a delicious 3-course meal prepared by the 5* Chefs and also an auction of various items of interest that will be sure to get the bidding flowing on the evening.

Draig Personnel, which has raised close to £2,000 this year for the charity, has agreed to donate an original signed 2008 Grand Slam Winners squad photograph and an actual 07/08' season match shirt of Paul Parry signed by the Cardiff football team to the auction in attempt to boost the fundraising on the evening.

LATCH is a voluntary organisation set up to support the special requirements of the children's oncology centre in Wales which is based at the Children's Hospital for Wales to help affected families and promote research in childhood cancer. LATCH is the chosen charity of both Peacheys and Draig Personnel who are always pleased to assist with fundraising.

LATCH are very much an ongoing charity as the needs of the children change constantly with new treatment techniques and new equipment being made available. Essential parents' accommodation is also provided. All this is dependent on the public's help to ensure that children with cancer and leukaemia in Wales obtain the best facilities available.

LATCH want the children with cancer in Wales to have the very best that is available today and see they have a healthy future ahead of them. To achieve this they provide the following:

  • Emotional and practical support to affected children and their families.
  • Parents' accommodation in the hospital to avoid family separation.
  • Funding of social workers and community nurses in the development of a support team, together with substantial funds to help families with travelling expenses and extra requirements in the home.
  • Support for the purchase of research equipment and funding for a full-time research doctor.
  • Holidays and other treats to help compensate the children during the difficult treatment years.
  • Their most recent achievement was the provision of £800,000 to build an additional floor on the children's hospital for Wales to provide hotel accommodation for families and a dedicated out-patients department for our children.

If you would like to book a table of ten at the LATCH Fairgound Ball at a cost of £600 + VAT or would like to donate an item for the auction or to make a donation to the charity, then please contact the event organisaer, Carolynn Purcell, of Peacheys on 01633 213318 for further details.
